Travel for Baby-Boomers
As baby boomers age and empty nest and retirement looms, many of them begin to think of travel.
Many boomers begin to think now it’s time to reward themselves with some travel and/or adventure after all the time they’ve spent being responsible; raising a family, and working for forty or so years.
It’s been a life-long dream of mine to explore the world and I am slowly putting the pieces into play in order for me to do this. I’ve made my bucket list. I’ve gotten my passport. I’ve signed up with several travel blogs that offer tips to navigate the world whether backpacking, cruising, or flying. Some of these blogs even offer tips on how to maximize bonus miles, and which ‘rewards cards’ offer the best deals.
Whether one sets out for purely the wanderlust experience, volunteering, or Eco-tourism there are as many forms of travel as there are destinations.

The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.

I think there are a time and a place for solo travel, and a time and a place for group travel. Pick what works best for you.
Always do your due diligence: research health and safety issues where you are headed; make sure you have all your important documents with you; let family or friends know your itinerary and schedule; make sure you have up-to-date health and travel insurance. And most importantly – have fun!!
I recently came across Boomer Tours & Travel – Accessible Travel. Their slogan is Travel without Barriers. Their description says “We create a worry-free vacation tailored to your specific needs. From accessible transportation, hotels, and sightseeing, to equipment rental …”
I saw a Zoomer magazine at my friend’s place the other day. Apparently, they have some great travel rates and membership specials for Baby-Boomers. (I haven’t checked them out yet…)
Let me know of your favourite travel experiences/destinations.
