Welcome to Thriving-Baby-Boomers – A Whole person approach to wellness

“Focusing on the whole person to maximize health and wellness for life.”
DDR are the initials of a PS2 (Play Station 2) game called Dance, Dance Revolution. I don’t know how much ‘dancing’ I do, it’s more like jumping around trying to get your feet on up/down/or side arrows in time with the visual prompts to the beat of the music.
The DDR game comes with two mats, so you can have competitions between friends, or you can just use one mat and have a solo workout.
In about 2008 I was suffering the effects of fibromyalgia pretty severely and I could hardly walk most days. At the beginning of my physical ‘healing’ process, I could only do maybe fifteen minutes at a time of any kind of exercise routine.
DDR is fun. Because it is set to music, and the concentration needed to know where to put your feet, it tended to take my mind off the physical pain I was in – for the length of time I was using the PS2 machine.
Once I had completed my dance routine I literally had to crawl into a hot Epsom salts bubble bath to recover from the workout.
Back in those early days, I was so uncoordinated and didn’t have a very good balance, but over time this all improved and I could gradually move from beginner to standard level – I still haven’t managed to graduate up to the ‘expert’ levels. But I have fun – and I think that is one of the most important aspects when picking any kind of exercise routine – it must be fun for you.
